Windsor Aloha!! The Teutonia
Senior Youth held a final fundraiser for their Tag der Donauschwaben trip to
California by hosting a Hawaiian Benefit Night. This event featured a pig
roast and sundae bar. The youth decorators spent the day hanging lanterns
from the ceiling, transforming the pillars into palm trees and the bar into
an underwater oasis. The result was and enchanting and tropical setting.
Each guest dressed for the tropics and received a complimentary leis upon
arrival. The guests also participated in activities such as the limbo
contest, to which Evan Reidel was the champion and won a new DVD player,
donated by the Ofner family. Our Hawaiian guests spent the rest of the
evening enjoying performances by the Senior Youth including a playful
Hawaiian skit as well as a traditional folk dance set.
The Rheinlanders then played for the remainder the the
evening. Their music filled the dance floor and everyone partied down. Thank
you to the Rheinlanders for donating their time and musical expertise.
Everyone had a wonderful time. Special thanks goes out to all those who
helped make this event possible, especially Annette Erdmann for organizing
the entire event, Ingrid Taylor for getting all the door prizes and
donations, and Andy Schertzer, Frank Klein and John Dinesch for getting and
preparing the pig roast. It was delicious. Finally thank you to all our
Senior Youth who put their heart and soul into everything that they do. It
is a pleasure to work with them. Ashley Laing |
