The Schwaben Ladies group was officially founded on November 30th, 1989.
There were nineteen (19) active charter members, including Helga Milner who
presided as President. The main and original purpose of forming the group
was and remains to support the Schwaben Male Chorus".
The year 2004 marked our fifteen (15) year anniversary, with 20 active
members strong. Not only was Helga Milner our founding President, but she
was also President for this momentous anniversary. This anniversary year was
a busy one. We had several major projects to be completed in order to
distinguish our group. For one, a booklet entitled Synopsis of Our Years as
Schwaben Ladies" was produced through the efforts of Doris Hopfner and
Sandra Schwab. Another project, taken on by Helga Milner, was the creation
of our own identity with the design of our very own logo! This same logo was
turned into a beautiful and unique lapel pin, which we are proud and honored
to wear.
Now the fun part... To celebrate this special milestone, the Schwaben Ladies
agreed to cele-brate by having a Girls' Getaway". These unique and wonderful
activities were creatively arrived at and smoothly arranged by the special
planning committee consisting of: Katja Hartmann, Jeanne Reiter, Nina Bohde
and Barbara Steudle. With fifteen ladies (12 active members and 3 guests)
participating, we began our adventure! The festivities began at noon on
Sunday, January 23rd, 2005 where we all met and carpooled to our
destination(s). Our first stop was in Owosso, MI where we took a tour of the
Curwood castle. We continued on to the warm and inviting Bonnymill Inn in
Chesaning, MI where we had overnight accommodations. The girls settled in
and then met in the hospitality suite for some friendship and celebration.
We then walked across the street for our dinner reservations at the quaint
Heritage House restaurant. We ended the evening in our hospitality suite for
more companionship and celebration.
The next morning a complimentary brunch was enjoyed by all. The group then
proceeded to go shopping through town and enjoyed a late lunch before
heading back home. The getaway" was a special way to celebrate and spend
some time together. From the comments made, a great time was had by all!
Also, one of the guests" has since become an active member.
The Schwaben Ladies are a fun, active, productive and motivated group.
Although we were formed to support the activities of the Schwaben Male
Chorus (SMC), we also make time to have our own fun and enjoy each others'
company. We try to have monthly get-togethers and take a break in the
summer. We are always ready to welcome new members. If you are a wife of a
