Schwäbische Männerchor Spring Concert was a Concert Goer's Delight

Sterling Heights The Schwäbische Männerchor and their guest choir, the Carpathia Mixed Chorus under the direction of Erwin Aufdemberge and George Beverst, gave the audience an evening of musical interpretation of German and English songs. It is always sad for the listeners and performers not to have the best quality of sound due to the lack of poor acoustics in this Hall. In spite of this shortcoming, we are all happy to have a place of our own to practice our songs and give the audience our optimum effort. One has to keep in mind that we are not professional singers. It is therefore, imperative to suffer criticism. All in all it was a successful concert and the two choirs did a wonderful recitation and splendid interpretation of their music. Both choirs and their conductors did their utmost best that evening.

The potpourri In Gottes Schöne Welt" was sung by the Schwäbische Männerchor sounded lively and cheerful. Manfred Milner sang the solo part of Spielmann's Blut" with feeling and persuasion.

Grandfathers Clock" with soloist Herman Hartmann and David Bohde was charmingly presented. The Schwäbische Männerchor ended the concert with a beautiful rendition of Guten Abend, Gut Nacht" with a wonderful solo sung by Jim Schwark.

The Carpathia Mixed Choir did an excellent performance. The song Eine weisse Rose" was especially beautiful. We singers from the Schwäbische Männerchor would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all members and director George Beverst for their enthusiastic participation.

Special thanks to Jan Pflieger who accompanied us on the piano. We also would like to thank George Raggatz for his boom boom drum accompanied the Fliegermarsch".

Many thanks are due to the audience for their support throughout the year, because without you there would be nothing. As the old saying goes Wo man singt da lass dich ruhig nieder, böse Menschen haben keine Lieder" (Where one sings you may sit down and sing along, bad people have no song).

The Schwäbische Männerchor had the honor that evening to present a plaque to Ernst and Alfred Steudle for being an active member for 60 years. Blondine Klimach, Michigan Sängerbezirk President, presented Al Steudle with a gold pin and a certificate for 60 years of vocal service from the Deutsche Sängerbund. Ernie received this honor at the 2005 Kommers this past April. Paul Schmidt, Armas Suni, Ed Jarmolinski, Rudi Hermann and Frank Milner each were honored for their 10 years of active membership.

An extra special thanks goes to our new member Herbert Gruber who diligently designed and produced our flyer and concert program. You have done a super job Herbert! Another thank you goes to our esteemed director Erwin Aufdemberge who has to put up with our sometimes silly idiosyncrasies.

Liederfroh,

Claus Koerbel
