Bavarian Tradition of Oktoberfest being Celebrated at the DASV

Auburn Hills On Saturday, the 23rd of September, the German-American Marksmen's Club (DASV) in Auburn Hills will be honoring the largest folk festival in the world - Oktoberfest. They will be celebrating this event at the Schützen Park located at 2650 Auburn Road (between Opdyke and Squirrel Road). All are invited to share in this great celebration of German Oktoberfest beer, food and music. The event begins at 4:00 p.m. with the well-known band - Rheinländer, performing for your listening and dancing pleasure. This is a festival were all are encouraged to celebrate wearing their finest German Dirndl dresses and Lederhosen. Everyone is a Bavarian on this wonderful day - Oktoberfest.

The German-American Marks-men's Club celebrates many German traditions throughout the year. Another tradition, which has been celebrated for hundreds of years in Germany and since 1939 at the German-American Marksmen's Club, is coming this October 28th. This annual traditional event is the Schützen Königsball, which celebrates the crowning of the new Schützenkönig, the King of the DASV. This years King is Dennis Hogan. This Semiformal event will be held at the Carpathia Hall in Sterling Heights. There will be a Ceremony for the King, Dinner and Dancing. Katie and Arnold of the Vagabonds will be performing the music for the evening. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate another one of Germany's, and the Schützen's, time honored traditions. For more information visit the German-American Marksmen's Club website at: www.DASV.org or call (248) 852-2140.
