Auburn
Hills - On Saturday, February 16th the Deutsch-Amerikanischer
Schützenverein held their annual Schlachtfest Dinner Dance at the D.A.S.V.
Clubhouse located at 2650 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills. They celebrated an
age-old tradition of harvesting a pig with an excellent dinner consisting of
Wellwurst, Kassler Rippchen, Leberkäse and home baked desserts. Katie and
Arnold of the Vagabonds" performed for everyone's listening and dancing
pleasure. Those in attendance had a great time. Along with the traditional
Schlachtfest celebration, Nancy and Doug Fisher of the D.A.S.V. celebrated
their 6th Wedding Anniversary among friends. Those visiting the D.A.S.V. for
the first time really enjoyed the warmth and quaintness that the D.A.S.V.
Clubhouse provides.
Upcoming
Events:
March 15th the
D.A.S.V. Schützen will be attending an annual Shooting competition hosted by
the Brandenburg Schützen in Chicago at the famous DANK Haus. The competition
will be between the Schützen groups from Peoria, St. Louis, Chicago and
Auburn Hills. This Schützen competition will be followed by an evening of
celebrating the Königsball of the Brandenburger Schützen at the
Schwabenhalle.
On April 5th the
Deutsch-Amerikanischer Schützenverein will be celebrating their tradition of
honoring their Queen of the D.A.S.V. This year Queen Loraine will be honored
with a wonderful Feast followed by the evening's program as well as the
Semi-Formal Dance. During the evening events, the past Queens will also be
honored for their service during their respective reigns.
