Sterling Heights ­ I was happy to present the Friendship Award to Blondine Klimach at the recent Schlachtfest at the Carpathia Club. The recognition was approved by Ambassador Klaus Scharioth upon the recommendation of Consul General Wolfgang Drautz. The award, one of the most prestigious honors the German government can grant, singles out Blondine for her decades of service to the German-American community - in the Detroit area. She has been a German language teacher, a choir director and a leader of many organizations over the years. Her service has been inspirational, and is truly evidence of her role as a citizen ambassador" who has advanced relationships between the people of Germany and the people of her adopted homeland, the United States of America.
