Germania Club Downriver hosts 36th German American Festival

Simon and Julian Aytes

Brownstown Township - Preparations are in full swing at the Germania Club for their 36th Annual German American Festival held June 1st & 2nd, 2007 at the club's home at 23156 King Road in Brownstown, Michigan.

The festivities will begin on Friday June 1st with music provided by the Vagabonds and the Martin Brothers Plus 2 from 7:30 pm until 12 am.

On Saturday Millie's Czech-Slovak Band and the Berg Duo will provide musical entertainment starting at 2:30. The Harmony and Dennis Malec's International Bands will be featured from 7:30 pm until 12 am.

The highlight of the evening will be a Flag Ceremony at 8 pm presenting area German clubs and local dignitaries. The traditional Kinderparade" will take place during the afternoon for our youngest guests who will also have fun on the moonwalk.

Plenty of German food (including potato pancakes), wine and beer will be on hand um Leib und Seele zusammenzuhalten" (to benefit body and soul). The Konditorei (cake kitchen) is stocked with delicious cakes and baked goods while the Weinstube" invites our guests to take a rest from dancing and to enjoy a glass of wine or two and good conversation. In addition there will be a beer tent for those who prefer to sit outside.

The club invites everybody to come and enjoy German music, food and drink and promises two days full of fun and Gemütlichkeit.
