Sterling Heights Again this year,
the Carpathia Hall was filled with children wearing adorable costumes and
big smiles for this year's Kinderfasching 2007. GBU Saxonia/Rheingold's
elaborate balloon and Mardi Gras decorations and the Rhinelander's band
music provided for a festive ambiance. The party started with Prince
Christoph and Princess Julia tossing candy from a carriage escorted by adult
Prince Manfred I and Princess Karin and the GBU Saxonia/Rheingold court.
The children's eyes continued to sparkle as their hands and arms moved and
bodies twisted while dancing the chicken dance and the hooky poky. The
highlight of the party was the bubble wrap spread across the entire dance
floor and the children waiting with every last bit of patience for GA Kids'
President Rica Lade to give the okay to Jump". Parents also became children
while dancing and popping away the bubbles on the dance floor.
Teams of dad's and daughters and mom's and sons performed the limbo dance
with great enthusiasm. There were also teams of mummy wrappers that resulted
in 8 mummies and the fastest team won prizes. George, the clown, passed out
balloons and led the costume parade all around the hall. Prizes donated by
Lufthansa were given to best costumes for girls, boys and babies.

A
big thanks to the GA Kids' team for organizing this memorable event and
thank you Carpathia Club for donating the hall. We would also like to thank
Sabine and Florian of the Austrian Society for donating their time to face
paint, tattoo dinosaurs and give girls manicures. Thank you GACC for
providing the kids with the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful children's
tradition.

In
summary, just ask my 3-year-old son what he thought of the event: Mommy, can
we do it again next week." With the eyes of both my children shut as we
pulled out of the parking lot, we knew it was a success.
