Sterling
Heights On April 17th the local Bavarians
celebrated spring with their annual Afternoon in Bavaria, at the Carpathia
Hall in Sterling Heights. After the Einmarsch of the Trachtler behind the
flag, 1. Vorstand Erwin Rauschendorfer welcomed all members, friends and
guests who came to join us on this lovely sunny day. After the speech, all
the Trachtler danced a Massen Boarischer to the delight of the guests.
Our Musikwart,
Rick Michels, started the musical program with a Klarinetten Musi Jodler. He
then explained to the audience our newest attraction, the Goassl Schnalzer.
This new venture is a combined effort of GTEV Edelweiss, Detroit, and GTEV
Chiemgau, Winsdsor. For the short time they had to practice, our men did a
great job with the Goassl Schnalzer (whips).
The Blockflöten
Mädla and Chrissy and Colleen on Hackbretter put on a really wonderful
performance. The Klarinetten Musi performed a Schottisch and the Stubn Musi,
with Buttonbox, Tuba, Guitar and Hackbrett, entertained the guests with Auf
da Hausbank" Polka. The Goassl Schnalzer closed out the musical part of the
program with the Kreuzpolka. Our new Vorplattler, Roger Kraft, led his
dancers through the second part of the program.
Our youth group,
Volktanzgruppe and Schuhplattler did a wonderful job entertaining the
guests. As always, our friends from Chiemgau Windsor, were a special
attraction, with their dances from the Chiemgau. To round out this nice
afternoon, everybody had dinner and drinks, some homemade Torten and cakes
and a few lucky visitors won a prize at the raffle.
A hearty Vergelt's
Gott" to all the guests who made this festival a success. A special thank
you goes to Ryan Stiller and his Schuhplattler from the GTEV Chiemgau,
Windsor.
