GBU Award Presented to a Local Club President

GBU Saxonia/Rheingold President with GBU Chairman of the Board Lea Ann Hazi

Sterling Heights Each year the Greater Beneficial Union (GBU) awards their prestigious Louis Volz Founder's Award to one outstanding GBU district officer who has earned the title of being a trueblue fraternalist."

This year the beautiful singing during the Spring Concert of the Carpathia Gemischter Choir & GBU Saxonia/Rheingold Choir was the perfect setting to recognize a very special lady for her many contributions to the GBU, her community, and loyalty to her German culture.

After a wonderful concert of German music, at the Carpathia Hall on May 13th, GBU's Chairman of the Board, Lea Ann Hazi, announced the winner of the society's highest award. This year's winner was none other than the President of the GBU Saxonia/Rheingold Choir and GBU District 821, Edith Kuplent. Ms. Kuplent who resides in Troy, Michigan began her service to the district and choir in 1958. She has served as the Treasurer for 25 years and President the past 22 years.

In addition to fulfilling her duties as an officer and choir member, Edith has organized countless concert tours for the choir to sing in Germany. The GBU Saxonia/Rheingold Choir performs not only for the pleasure of others, but also performs to raise the spirits of those less fortunate. As President of GBU District 821 in Sterling Heights, Edith has lead her district into performing many worthy community projects over her tenure.

Her dedication to GBU along with her loyalty to the German culture and her service to the community made Edith Kuplent a most worthy recipient of the Louis Volz Award.

The GBU is a 114 year old German fraternal organization which provides both life and annuity products to its members. If you would like more information on how you can become a member of this society, please contact 1800765 4GBU.
