Extended Weekend for the GACC

Sterling Heights – Last weekend was quite busy for the members of the German-American Cultural Center. On Sunday there was the General Membership Meeting at the Carpathia Club, address of the GACC since 1994.

Regular business included the election of four Directors-at-Large. Directors, who’s term expired were: Josef Hirmann, Herbert Ochs, George Sinning and Peter Walter. All of them were reelected to serve another 3 year term. A hearty luncheon and socializing concluded the afternoon.

Monday, it was the Board of Directors Meeting, which is held every second Monday of the month. The Board of Directors of the GACC consists of 14 club delegates, members from all affiliated organizations and 12 Directors-at-Large, who are elected by the GACC Membership to conduct the business of the GACC and once a year elect the Executive Board of the GACC, which happened last Monday.

Election results are as follows:

GACC President: Frank Sinz

1st Vice President: Joseph Gassel

2nd Vice President: Josef Hirmann

Recording Secretary: Walter Gasser

Corresponding Secretary: Marianne Krenzer

Financial Secretary: Hedwig Richiert

Treasurer: Eberhard Wasserbäch

Trustees: Helen Gassel, Willy Grotloh, Walter Jensen, Edith Kuplent and Peter Walter

Congratulations to all, the ship of the GACC once again in capable hands.

Tuesday was night out number three. Some call this overkill, but nine former German-Americans of the Year recipients and Club Presidents got together to select the German-American of the Year 2005. There were five nominees, sooooo much to read and discuss. The second round of voting brought the winner.

This years Award will be presented at the 55th Anniversary Gala Evening at the Carpathia Club on April 16th, to GACC President Frank Sinz, German-American of the Year 2005. This is going to be an entertaining evening. The theme for the evening will be: „The Return to Elegance“. Think about the seventies and early eighties, check your closets and dress up to the hilt. At the end of the program, you can dance the night away to the music of „The Eric Neubauer Ensemble“.

Program starts at 7:30pm. Donation is $15.00 all seats are reserved. For reservations please call: 586-978-8663. Cash bar available. Dinner is also available at the Carpathia Club before the Gala. Reservations: 586-978-2292.

The GACC Luncheon Spring Fashion Show this year will be on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Carpathia Club. Lunch is being served at noon. On the menu: Schnitzel, Oven-Roasted Potates, Peas and Carrots, Salad and for dessert Rainbow Sherbert. Sounds delicious, and we hope it is to your liking.

Spring fashions are presented by: Casual Corner. Donation: $17.50, all seats are reserved. For Reservations call me at 586-978-8663. A big raffle is expected. Fashion Shows are always fun and tickets go fast, so please call early.

We hope you all have a wonderful springtime and see you somewhere along the way.
