Sterling Heights – Last weekend
was quite busy for the members of the German-American Cultural Center. On
Sunday there was the General Membership Meeting at the Carpathia Club,
address of the GACC since 1994.
Regular
business included the election of four Directors-at-Large. Directors, who’s
term expired were: Josef Hirmann, Herbert Ochs, George Sinning and Peter
Walter. All of them were reelected to serve another 3 year term. A hearty
luncheon and socializing concluded the afternoon.
Monday,
it was the Board of Directors Meeting, which is held every second Monday of
the month. The Board of Directors of the GACC consists of 14 club delegates,
members from all affiliated organizations and 12 Directors-at-Large, who are
elected by the GACC Membership to conduct the business of the GACC and once
a year elect the Executive Board of the GACC, which happened last Monday.
Election results are as follows:
GACC President: Frank Sinz
1st Vice President: Joseph Gassel
2nd Vice President: Josef Hirmann
Recording Secretary: Walter Gasser
Corresponding Secretary: Marianne
Krenzer
Financial Secretary: Hedwig Richiert
Treasurer: Eberhard Wasserbäch
Trustees: Helen Gassel, Willy Grotloh,
Walter Jensen, Edith Kuplent and Peter Walter
Congratulations to all, the ship of the GACC once again in capable hands.
Tuesday
was night out number three. Some call this overkill, but nine former
German-Americans of the Year recipients and Club Presidents got together to
select the German-American of the Year 2005. There were five nominees,
sooooo much to read and discuss. The second round of voting brought the
winner.
