Sterling Heights The Detroit Schwaben Unterstützungs-Verein had its
first meeting for this year with the new President Hubert Rosch on Sunday,
April 24th, 2005 at the Carpathia Club.
President Rosch greeted the members who defied rain and snow to attend the
meeting. It was the first time that we used the GACC room at the Carpathia
Hall.
The business part of the meeting was handled efficiently. Suggestions were
made how to further the connection and socializing within and outside the
Verein. Members input and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated.
At the end of the meeting the raffle was won by Elizabeth Mohr.
Following, a good Bratwurst on a bun was served with beer and wine. The
members were having a good time just sitting around enjoying each other's
company and talking of the good old times at the Schwaben Park. Treasurer
AnnaMaria Mapes provided delicious cake for our desert.
Also, at this meeting we had a guest, who wanted to see what we are all
about. He must have enjoyed himself for by the time we broke up the
gathering our guest had filled out the application for membership and is
looking forward to be accepted as the latest addition to the Verein.
President Rosch, Benefits Director John Horlacher and wife, Trustee Jane
Horlacher and yours truly represented the Detroit Schwaben
Unterstützungs-Verein at the Toledo Schwaben Verein's Banquet and also the
55th Anniversary banquet of the German American Cultural Center. We also
will attend the Banquet of the Ann Arbor Schwaben Verein on the 29th of
April.
Our next meeting will be held in July 2005. Notices will be sent to members
with further information.

Vereins family picnic is in the planning stage.
