Township Show Stoppers" theMarch concert of the
Macomb Symphony Orchestra (MSO) held at 8:00pm on Friday,March 10, 2006at
the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts located on Hall Road (M-59) near
Garfield, promises to be very exciting again this year.
This concert is
sponsored by The Walter and Karolina Morawski Fund and promises excitement,
entertainment and great music all combining in large measure during this,
the third concert of the season. Every aspect of the evening will be a
thrill for the audience. The energetic overture to Colas Breugnon by
Kabalevsky will kick off the evening with a rhythmic propulsion like few
other works.Paul Roache, the MSO's Principal Trumpet, will follow with a
concerto by Peter Maxwell-Davies, one of Britain's most sought after
contemporary composers. This composition combines extraordinary virtuosity
and imaginative orchestral support.
For many, the
highlight of the evening will be the appearance of the "Macombers," the show
choir of Macomb College. This talented young student group presents a
musical and visualperformance of great energy and polish. This will be the
first time this fine group has performed with a symphony orchestra.
The concert will
conclude with the Organ Symphony by Saint-Saens, always a crowd pleaser.
Macomber" director Harvey Kahl will be the featured organist. This powerful
symphonic composition never fails to thrill an audience with its grandeur
and brilliant orchestration.
